The wood-block, block of wood or Chinese box (in the toolbox Orff), is a musical instrument made of wood of a solid body with a longitudinal slot, which can be produced in various ways. The Wood-Blocks MISSOM® are cobbled, and have the particularity that they may be retuned, in the case of a well defined idiofone tall. The Wood-Blocks MISSOM® can also be produced in various woods, but hard-maple is being the most used and that offers better results from low to high consistency, and constancy enough on its density, allowing better control tuning. These instruments can also be designed to be part of one set of one to three chromatic octaves, and even quarter tones, addressing some of the challenges of contemporary music, achieving a sound and fairly short set. Dimensions: cobbles of various sizes between 5,12 inch X 2,36 X 2,76 and 2,36 X 4,33 X 12,8 inch are sold loose, or supports for one, two or three octaves of FA3 (La3 = 442Hz) to FA6.
